    Vented helmets

I wonder why a helmet company doesn't make a helmet similar to a bicycle helmet where they have opening around it for venting? Seems with today technology they should be able too. Sure would be nice for summer riding.

I'm not an engineer or helmet expert, but I would think it has to do with DOT's speed/intrusion rating. The fastest I've gone on a bicycle is 45 MPH (and that was many years ago), let's not start how fast we've all taken our motorcycles. I don't think a bicycle type helmet can protect our brains in a high speed collision. So far I'm happy with my J-Cruise. At lower speeds I ride with the face shield up. At higher speeds (with the face shield down) I can feel air flowing thru Shoei's designed air vents.

My Shoei Neotec has a big hood scoop on top. You can feel the air pouring through it.
