Doug , the guys that don't have a brake spring tool put a quarter in between each coil on the spring. That spaces it out far enough so you can hook the spring.

There is a bigger issue here. If a dealer is willing to let a mechanic work on your bike and he doesn't possess the proper skills then you should let that dealer know about it. If we can't depend on a dealer to do the correct job then how can we trust his work when we are out riding? I'm tired of dealers who main concern is to sell a bike and not care about servicing it. Honda should be monitoring these dealer's service departments and the people who work in them. I would hate to think what would have happened to you if the spring on that center stand broke and launched you off of your F6B while in a turn.
