    I tried the search to no avail

    OK Folks, Be easy on me. I'm picking up a new F6B and I'm concerned about the ride home as what speed is recommended by the manual? It is turnpike nearly all the way. I know from past bikes that no steady prolonged speeds are to be ridden for like the first 1,000 miles. Don't know if this is an issue with the F6B's with the 6cyl. Thanks in advance, cueman

    It's no different than any other engine. Many will say keep the revs ~down~ for a while, and vary them.
    I believe 70 mph is only about 3k rpm, so its not something so great I'd avoid it in fear of engine damage. (Piston speed @ 3000 rpm on a 1800-6 cylinder w/71mm stroke is a whole lot slower than piston speed on my last '1900' air cooled twin @ 3k with 118mm stroke.)
    Once everything has reached operating temp, I'm not sure you'll be able to do much damage,,, just try to keep it under 100,,,,

    I bought my F6 750 miles from home (Russellville to SA). The first 600 miles I never went over 3k RPM, varied speed (normal traffic took care of that and was riding in some twisties), accelerated slowly, took frequent rest stops to cool me and bike, and don't forget to go easy on brakes if possible. I took throttle lock and palm rest off my trade in and installed for trip home. Before I departed dealer I had them double check fluids and tire pressure just to be sure, next morning I checked tire pressure again just in case. Enjoy the ride home.

    The only thing the manual says is avoid fast starts and stops for the first 300 miles. Then it's game on. Enjoy the ride!

    Cool

    I took mine out and was fairly easy for the first 50 miles...setting the brakes was my concern........then started kicken it ass...period....... and have not stopped!

    And....watch those new tires! Be sure to scrape off all the coating before you go hard into corners.. Enjoy!

    I am with Steve and some of the other guys, i was relatively easy for the first 100 miles, moderate thru 250 miles, and been spanking friends on their HD's since 300 miles. I have owned 8 bikes over the last 15 years and have never followed any real break in procedure. Never had an issue either..

    I rode home from Russellville (1015 miles). There are no real break-in instructions after the first 300 miles. Word is, the engine is broken in before the bike is assembled.

    I did change the oil and filter as soon as I got home.
