Remove the negative cable not the positive.
First I must admit I did not read the tips properly, so I disconnected the battery completely the first time.
Problem not solved, then I read the tips again, and saw that I missed that it was only the negative lead that would unplug,
down to the garage again and do it right, but no luck this time either?!

I wonder if his connection in the rear has come partially disconnected? Well whatever it is, it's got to be covered by warrenty.

It's typically easier to disco the negative as it may be one singular cable. The intent is to interrupt the power to the bike fully and then reapply power to reboot all systems. It is good to leave it disco'd for a few minutes to ensure all power is bled from the system. Now if you rebooted and still have the issue you may have a disconnected cable input to the computer or your computer has had some failure. It's time for some warranty/servicing from a technician.
