How of you guys have made the key knobs

How many of you guys made the key knobs. If you have how many did you make. Do you like them and how are they holding up. I am thinking of making 3 of them, one for each key hole. Whats you opinion.

I made two, but could have gotten away with just one. Using the radio knob- it doesn't fit the Saddlebags opening so scratch that if your using the radio knob. As far as the cubby and gas tank you really only need one in the cubby and you can grab it to unlock the gas then return it to the cubby slot.

Recently, I've lost them so I'm going to make more. Put them in a pocket somewhere on the Ct trip?

I made two using the radio knobs and HD103 blanks from Ace Hardware. One for the cubby and one for the saddlebags. The shaft had to be left a little longer for the saddlebag key in order to have enough clearance. I used some construction adhesive I happened to have laying around and both keys are holding up fine.

Working great, have the stock radio control knob with a cut down key copy for the cubby and one for the saddlebags that is a Radio Shack radio knob that works very well, being small enough to fit the recessed cut out. Just used a cutting wheel and grinder from my dremel to trim the shaft down enough to make it fit into the knob. Then epoxied, around it, super solid. Radio shack has a number of different style knobs you can use, nice thing about them is a little hex screw that will tighten up against the key's shaft. Since you will cut these shorter for a flush fit they will be shorter in length than the ignition key,so there is no danger of anyone trying to start the bike with one. Makes using the cubby very easy to do while riding.

I have all three (cubby, gas lid & bags), and really like them. What a nuisance it would be without them. I get into the cubby and the bags way too often to mess with a key every time.

I lock them all up if I am concerned when I park. Most of the time I don't bother. But, I do have an alarm with a pager and a proximity sensor for piece of mind.

I also had one more key made that I ground off the plastic so that it is flat. I carry that in my wallet on trips - just in case .....

I am surprised some vendor hasn't started selling these pre-made blanks. I am more surprised that Honda does not uniquely key their locks.

Made one for the glove box and one for the saddle bags. I still use the ignition key for gas compartment.Redbone F6B 014.jpgRedbone F6B 016.jpg

I did the radio knobs for the box and tank. For the bags I came up with this for leverage.
