When I got mine - there were no options that I was aware of.
Mine are clear, with about 5 horizontal lines, and that looks like the "grid" option.

    My thinking:
I want those white running lights to be seen. Period.
I want the amber turn signals to be seen. Period.
    No smoke, thank you.

The smooth lenses are a different company's part, but I'm sure they will work fine if SoCal is offering them, however they probably provide a different throw pattern. I cannot say if it is any "better" than the grid. With the grid, I know there is some diffusion - you cannot see very clearly inside the housing, and I think I like that.

    My $0.02. Cheers.

What color bike do you have, and what "look" are you going for?

I went with the clear w/grids, mostly because I think clear matches the white bike better. I chose the grids because it's what was on the OEM lenses, and wasn't sure how the fully clear lens would look.
