    Sunday/Monday road trip

I might be a little crazy on this one, but headed out shortly to Cockeysville, MD for really what's an afternoon, evening mini family reunion, then returning Monday. I95 all the way down until I split at 695 in MD. I'm not worried about today, it's tomorrow that should be the bear.

If anyone has a sneaky route back to SE Mass where I can avoid the most traffic, I'd love to hear it. I'm thinking right now to take 287 around the NYC area, but I know I still get hung up at the Tappan Zee Bridge. It's a 6-1/2 hour trip normally. I have all day and am even thinking to go as far north as I84.

Honestly, there's probably no hope to avoid a 4th of July traffic jam, but thought I'd entertain some travel ideas....I have all day, and might need it!Thanks.

    Sunday/Monday road trip

Hey WJ. Hope you have a safe trip. Little heads up on the weather down this way. Raining this morning, with showers off and on, and heavy rains being called for the Washington, Baltimore area on Monday. So pack your rain gear, and have a great time.

Wayne - 287N to 87N then 84E - keeps you out of the city and that bridge mess

I drove to Va Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, and Labor Day weekends; no more holiday travel for me! CT/NY/NJ/DE were always the worst.

    Have a safe trip Wayne.

Just checking in now. My cousins here say to just do 95. I'm considering 287 to the tappan zee, or as Jim said, all the way to 84. Lord knows I'm used to 84! I do have all day.

Teach, a tad too far North yet....although the Mason- Dixon is around here, isn't it?

I think I decided on the long way around, up to PA, then east. I have to hit 95 on the last run home no matter what. Hoping I'll be early enough and at least keep rolling. Thanks for the input and Happy 4th to everyone!

Here's the final tally of my 2 day trip...

    Attachment 22003

All the worry of traffic was washed away with the long go around. 95, to 287, to 87, to 84, to 691, to 66, to 95, then finally 195. 8-1/2 hours with 3 stops today, compared to going direct yesterday, 6-1/2 hours, 2 stops. No delays anywhere for me, although 87 south in NY was heavily congested and backing up around mid day or so.

Would do it again without blinking an eyelash. Did you guys and gals know how awesome this bike is?

Just for fun....I hit the 10,000 mile mark passing through Philadelphia on July 4th. A little something for me to remember.
