How I handled the extra 1/10th quart of oil

I believe with a filter change, we're supposed to put in 3.9 quarts of oil. Many just put in the full 4 quarts and call it good.

I handled that extra 10th in a different way.
As it's hard to get the oil poured into the fill hole, I bought an aluminum funnel with a long flexible spout.

I had it in as close to an upright position as I could. As I was pouring the jug of Rotella, the funnel moved outward on me,
dumping the extra 10th onto my driveway. I poured the rest in, ran the engine for a couple minutes and it came out right to the mark
    on the dipstick. Problem solved.

    Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Note to self: place a piece of flattened cardboard box under the bike during service. I like the funnel though.

My last oil/filter change required 4.1 quarts of oil

I chose not to pour 9/10 of the remaining oil on the ground

I use the Honda HPN4 full synthetic and wind up letting the bottles drain into the engine until they are totally empty. If I don't the oil is low on the stick when I check it and then have to go back and drain each bottle until it just about quits dripping and then it reads full on the stick. 4 full quart is what mine takes with a filter change.
