First Day of MSF Basic Rider Course, we coach always leave the bike in First Gear when stopped, have your escape path established, and the first thing you do after you stop is check your mirrors.
    Trying to build muscle memory.....

Glad you're still with us Will!

I use a technique of slowing the traffic down before I stop compounded with a Whelan TIR3 flashing through their thick skulls all while watching in my mirrors for phone addicted fools!

You're in Suitland? I grew up in Camp Springs? I ride up there from time to time to see the family.

I was at the hospital in FL that was next to my school. The dude outside there was beat up bad. He said a pickup truck plowed into him while he was sitting at a red light. Yeah, watch your mirrors, have an exit strategy.

Yeah, Suitland. Drop a line next time you're headed this way. Maybe we can hook up for a RTE. Take care.

Yes, I have the a pair of Hyperlights installed (16 LED each) and have them on the permanent flashing mode when the brakes are engaged. If someone is looking ahead; there is NO WAY you can't notice them. They are alarmingly stunning and bright. She had to had been looking at a cell phone or something else.

Also was wearing my high Vis Yellow mesh jacket and my white helmet. I also have those black reflectivel 3M panels on the rear of my saddlebags; which glow white when headlights hit it.

I think that I'm going to do the mod where you install an additional red bulb into the turn signal lenses. So I can get more red light on the back of my bike.

I also have some of that Solas type white/red reflective tape that I'm thinking about applying somewhere... rear and sides of my helmet perhaps.
Will, I added a 14" red plasma rod from customdynamics.com underneath the luggage rack. That pulse the federal micropulse where the reflector used to be, and the led license plate frame from custom dynamics, and it's almost UFO like.

The one thing that might make you a lot more seem, is a brake light mounted up on the backrest. I've thought about putting a second micropulse up there, but not sure I can fabricate an attractive looking mount on my own.

This is how it all looks:

This winter I think that I am going to take a shot at putting another micropulse on the backrest, and have it set to flash. If they don't see THAT, they won't see anything.

The only other thing I can think of, is to put a tourpack on it with the big micropulse lights on it. But it already looks too much like a police bike...
