I-phone play

If I connect my I-phone to the USB plug in the saddle bag it works great, clear and loud, but I assume it will run the phone down. Yes I use a memory stick to play some music I got free somewhere but the I-phone has purchased and better music on it so is preferable. I plug into the little small pin plug in the front unlocked cubby and it does not play very loud, no where near as loud as from the USB or the radio. I plan to possibly move the USB up to the front where I have a power outlet and can keep the phone charged. Eventually will be hooking up a Zumo 590 and will need all plugs I'm guessing for GPS and phone. The 590 has it's own music and will play anything accessible with the phone via blue tooth but still need to be able to charge. My question is about the sound volume when plugged into the small plug. Am I doing something wrong or something wrong with my tie in? Thoughts?

I don't use/ have music other than the radio. I beleave a I phone should run and charge your phone as long as the bike is running or you have the key in the accessory position. It's been 3 years sence I read that part of the owners Manuel .

I'm not answering your main question here... but I wanted to remark that the USB connection in the saddlebag "should" keep your I-Phone charged up, when the bike is running. At least it does for my Ipod.

I plug my iPod into the saddlebag and it plays loud, plus it charges itnup. I assume it's the same with the iPhone. It should maintain it charged.

Just to be clear my question is why the small pin plays much lower volume than the radio or the USP port.

The cubby connector "cares" what volume the controlling source is set to, whereas the USB port doesn't care.
Have you tried adjusting the media volume on your iPhone to "Full-Tilt-Boogie"?
It may not sound well at that level, and could possibly overload the input on the amp, so please adjust volumes responsibly....

Yep the phone is at max and still low volume. Glad to hear the USB also charges. I will work it out when I start to install the Zumo 590. Plan to take this thing apart to make the additions and changes I want after I receive the ordered parts and the manual.

Does the 1/8" plug insert fully into your phone? Sometimes a case will prevent that.
If you're not sure, try moving the balance to either side on the iPhone or the B and see if you have signal.
Try another audio source with 1/8" output to see if you can eliminate the phone or the AUX input.
If the AUX input always sounds bad it could be that 2 of the 3 wires that connect to the factory wiring harness have been reversed which would lead to your L/R being out of phase.

That sounds like some good advice. I will try those things when get back home from Christmas in Prairieville LA.
