In case you wondering why they're there...On the full GoldWing the windshield is manually adjustable and the knobs for the adjustments stick out there. At least I think it's for the windshield, but I have seen the knobs that slide up and down. Obviously the F6B gets rubber inserts to cover the hole that's not used.

One design aspect of the F6B that mystifies me, are the cutouts on the sides of the front fender. Why are they there?

Aerodynamics. The swoop of the fender at the fork legs and the cut out on the front of the fender to let air out from under the fender to reduce lift. The “swoop “ is similar to the air foil on and aircraft wing. Kinda makes it Wing relevant.
