I made a knob for the cubby lock with a stock knob, a Honda key purchased at radio shack and 24-hour two-part epoxy I already had for making model boats. I bought two knobs and keys to have spares for the inevitable screwup, but I got it perfect the first time. Very sturdy. I love having it. Makes getting into the cubby fast and easy. I wouldn't have the patience to use the ignition key every time.

It oughta be a crime to have this much fun on a motorcycle.

Made 2, one for the cubby and one for the bags. Got the knobs from radio shack and key blanks from Loews. Keys work great and I like that they won't start the bike.

I have Honda knobs JB welded to AXXIS plus 27R key from Home Depot.
One went to cubby lock and the other to the saddlebag locks.
I also used the same key JB welded with a chrome license plate bolt cover.
I use that for the gas door.
I remove the cubby key when going in somewhere as I keep my gun in there.

I have made many over the past 15 years for all my motorcycles.. they have all held up just fine as of this day.
I have always used the two part JB weld.

got 2 keys made, only made 1 knob. Have it for saddlebags. Don't really use the cubby enough to mess with it. After a few months of using my ignition key every day to open my saddlebag and get my purse out, this is MUCH easier.

Does the JB Weld work better than the monkey glue, also which one of the JB products are you using. My radio knobs should be here today.

    Greg,
JB Weld is the only way to go in my opinion.
    It has never failed me.
The trick to JB Weld is to read the fine print.
Although in big letters it may say "dries in 6 minutes" or whatever, look at the fine print.
It says, let set for 24 hours before use or something like that.
I don't have a tube near me for the exact wording.
    My point?
Let it set for the full 24 hours for best results whatever the label says on the front.

Cool Doug, Did you use JB Weld for plastic or just the general purpose.
