I see a number of oil filter threads and I was wondering if anybody has notice the sudden jump in oil filter and battery prices? Fram at Wally World is almost $7 and Bosch is almost $12. I replaced a small battery in my sons Honda Fit and my wife's RAV4 and both were $150 each. I put one in the RAV4 back in 2011 and it was about $85.
Anybody else notice that or is it just me?

Could be the supply of lead... if it's lead plates batteries you're after. I don't think the U.S. has a lead smelter anymore. Most lead is coming from China these days?Originally Posted by Old Ryder

And the battery warranty went to shit to. We sell Interstate at our boat dealership and the marine battery warranty went to just 6 months and they told me that their motorcycle battery warranty is just 90 days!

Yep. Due to our fine outstanding government looking our for our "best interest"; we, the U.S,. no longer have a single lead smelter within our borders.
Pray that we don't have to go to war with those that do have em.
Not true. There is a smelter in Eagan Mn. Called Gopher smelting that is still in business.
Well that's good to know. With the way that the EPA is trying to drive certain branches of our industry under; with new rules/regulations regarding pollution. which is what happened to the rest of the US based lead smelters.
