Great to know the B holds that much fuel. Like some of the others, I would not push it that far. It does not make a fuel pump happy, to run out of fuel. Anyway, glad you made it okay.
Forgot to comment on the photo. Great shot of the Macinack Bridge. Was it windy when you crossed? Not fun when the cross wind hit you.
You guys are brave! I wouldn't want to push that 840 pound unit around, much rather have the engine do it for me!
I can't imagine that running the tank that low on fuel does any good for your fuel pump, It's my understanding that the pump is submerged in gasoline to help keep it from overheating and failing.

Years ago, we dove the shipwrecks (Cedarville and a few others) on both sides of that bridge. The current can get really strong in that channel.we rode across as early as we could,sunrise was 7:55 local time (eastern daylight time) wind was around 5 mph, very peaceful
